NRRS (sanctioned by Formula USA) was formed during the topsy-turvy year of 2000.

We all discovered at the Daytona BikeWeek event that PACE Motorsports (which had been bought out by SFX) acquired the Championship Cup Series (from Roger E.) and Formula USA (from Doug Gonda). Unbeknownst to the rest of us, Clear Channel was in the middle of buying out SFX! And so the PACE/SFX/Clear Channel fiasco began.

Roger folded his corporation and moved on to Florida to help organize and run the Grand American series (protype race cars). The CCS office was relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, with new staff members sharing office space with SFX's other interests (Arenacross, Dirt Track, Monster Truck and others). Doug Gonda (Formula USA's former owner) was retained temporarily by SFX as "track negotiator and scheduler", but he didn't stay long.

Formula USA Wrenchead

Because of the new SFX influence, Wrenchead.com added NRRS to their list of the Title Sponsorships (along with Monster Truck and other SFX motorsports series). The Wrenchead.com logo became attached to every NRRS trophy we produced. This sponsorship was short-lived, unfortunately.

LP USA Racing

When Wrenchead.com "bailed out" for 2001, Lockhart Phillips USA jumped in to fill the void (and your purses). 2001 also brought back endurance racing with the introduction of the Team Challenge, sponsored by Engine Ice.

In 2005, the Unlimited Grand Prix classes were eliminated from the Pro lineup (moved back to CCS status), but the timed qualifying sessions (which had begun in either 2003 or 2004) remained for the Experts only. 2005 is also the year that a Solo class, presented by A & J Recognition, was added to the Team Challenge to give individuals a chance to ride that enduro.
